Squiggle cakes

Hi After a break away from blogging I have decided to try a different approach and I am adding baking to the list of different crafts you will see on my blog!!

So here are my squiggle cakes!!!

As you can see they are very colourful and look a lot like bouncy balls or paintballs rather than cupcakes but I assure you they are absolutely delicious!!!

mmmmmmm.....

So here's how you make them!!

You will need:

100g flour
100g sugar
100g butter or margarine
2 eggs
a few drops of vanilla extract

food colouring, just using primary colours allows you to mix them and create other colours
cake cases
a few small bowls
a mixing bowl and spoon
or a food processor

This recipe makes 12 cupcakes approx. if you would like to make more/less just adjust the qualities of the ingredients accordingly.

So the first thing to do is preheat your oven to 180 fan/200 degrees/ gas mark 6, then  cream together the butter and sugar, you can do this by hand or in a food processor, which is what I used!!

Add in the eggs one at a time and mix, then gradually add the flour. you can sift the flour if you wish but especially if you are using a food processor I do not feel the need to sift any ingredients!

Mix mix mix....

Until it reaches this consistency/colour be sure to scrap round the edges of your bowl to incorporate all of the ingredients.

Now separate the mixture into 4 or 5 bowls depending on how many different colours you plan to use, I used 5 different colours. Purple, blue, green ,yellow and red. The blue, yellow and red were the most successful and brightest colours so I would defiantly go for those!!

Mix it well so that the colour is well speed throughout the mixture and you will get amazing colour!!

Spoon a blob of each colour mixture into each cake case then pop them in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
I used a cupcake maker which i love for its ease of use and how I can quickly get it out and put it away without waiting for it to heat up. So I really recommend these machines!!

once the cupcakes are cooked they should be springy to touch or if you prefer not to touch burning hot cupcakes insert a clean skewer into one of the cupcakes if it comes out clean then it is cooked if not eave the cupcakes for a few more minutes

Leave the cupcakes to cool for a few minutes then cut into one... and be amazed theres a picture of mine cut in half above, try and spot the bunny shape!!!

Then of course EAT AND ENJOY!!

If you make these please leave a comment below letting me know how they turned out!!!
Happy Baking
